Prenatal massage as part of prenatal care

Pregnancy is a physical and emotional journey that can benefit greatly from massage therapy.

We believe that a more relaxed mom fosters a less stressful in-utero environment for the developing baby. Our approach addresses common discomforts associated with the skeletal and circulatory changes brought on by hormonal shifts in pregnancy. These discomforts are not limited to lumbopelvic, thoracic and cervical regions. Our objective is to facilitate and nurture our beloved moms through this process by helping them recover from stress with the application of Swedish Massage.

According to the American Pregnancy Association, Swedish Massage is the recommended approach for expecting moms as it relaxes muscles, improves both lymphatic and blood circulation with mild pressure on the muscle groups of the body.

We accommodate mechanical comfort no matter in which stage of the pregnancy our moms are at. Treatments are performed on a specially design table that tilts the upper and lower body at different angles. We also have maternity cushions, body pillows, and advance training for helping this population.

healing inside and out

Cesarean sections recovery requires deep tissue healing, and realizing emotions related to the surgery, specially for moms who are preparing for a subsequent pregnancy.

Whether you’re recovering from a natural birth delivery or a C-section surgery, Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) combined with Swedish massage are the recommended approaches for postpartum care.

As early as in the 12th week post c-section, we recommend moms to massage scar tissue over the incision area. This releases adhesions and promotes a functional internal scaring. We educate women on how to integrate these techniques as self care and how to massage the scar on their own.

  • Yes, expecting moms may start receiving massage as soon as in their first trimester. However, some massage establishments/therapists refuse to work on pregnant women in their first 12 weeks due to the high risk of miscarriage. Our approach is well studied and incredibly safe. We encourage our clients to consult their physician whether if massage is safe for them or not before booking their session.

  • During the first trimester laying on your stomach and back should be safe for you and your baby. Once you are further along in your pregnancy, side laying position is the safest way to receive prenatal massage.

  • At least four sessions in the last trimester are highly recommended as the body has undergone through drastic changes at that stage. Massage therapy will be absolutely a game changer in alleviating both physical and emotional stress. In the first two trimesters, massage should be received as needed.
